The Joker Stalks Cars.com

One of the coolest things to happen around work last year was the filming of the Batman sequel, The Dark Knight. Every day I would park in our garage and there would be signs for where the crew needed to go. I would walk by burnt out helicopters. I would see the Joker’s flipped over semi truck.

It was very neat as I was/am a comic book geek and loved the first movie. One of my coworkers today forwarded me the above promotional still of the Joker walking down Van Buren towards our office building. It’s a strange photo for many reasons. 1. I’m on this street every day. I pull into that garage right there on the left. 2. It’s a bright and sunny day unlike the nighttime scenes portrayed in most of the ads and trailers for the movie.

Check out more of my Dark Knight shenanigans from last year here.

Update: Click below of a picture of the same corner today. Taken with my Blackberry so no comments on quality please.

Batman on the way to Lollapalooza

We just et up camp for the Roots but on the walk over we passed the crew setting up a scen for Dark Knight in front of the federal bank building off of Jackson. Yep that's me under the giant Gotham flag. And yes this entire post and photo is from my Blackjack.

More Dark Knight Sightings

It is so strange going to work every day and seeing signs that say "Cast Parking" and it's the SAME garage I park in! "RFK" signs right in front of my office. Burned out helicopters littering the streets. Crazy. I kind of love it.

I put some photos on Flickr which I've been slow to do before. Go here to check out the rest of them.

Fire on the Batman Set!!!

Just go read the Chicago Tribune story, it has video too. They're updating it. Crazy!
Photo from the Trib too.

Batman2

Well a few thousand more people than usual came to check out our first pics from the Batman movie set on Van Buren. I went by again last night in a cab this time and saw the huge area on the side of the building set up for the crew. There was also a huge police presence. Anyone see them actually shooting anything yet?

Batman is Back in Chicago! First Pictures

Gotham1

I have absolutely no idea if the headline above is accurate. I’m sure fans out there have already seen images of filming for the Batman sequel, but driving home today on Van Buren I passed this building on the corner of Wacker and VB (I think it’s an old Post Office building) with huge cranes out front and lighting as workers were affixing large letters to the outside of the building. Obviously you can see “Gotham Natio…” so I’m guessing this will be a bank for perhaps a bank robbery.

It looked like the flagpoles outside were just added. There were also lights set up inside the building on the northwest corner. More pictures below.
